The Tide
A commander stands at the head of a fleet she is not sure she can bring home.
The Tide is a historical epic in development at 302 Story Works. It follows a single commander on the eve of a battle that history will remember and she may not survive — a woman who has spent a lifetime being told the sea does not answer to her, standing at the head of a fleet that now does.
Like everything we make, the film begins with a person rather than an event. The armada, the fog, the drum that keeps a thousand oars in time — these exist to press on one question: what does it cost to be the one who gives the order? We are less interested in the spectacle of war than in the silence just before it, and in what a leader carries home when the tide finally turns.
The project is being developed as a character-driven historical feature, built from the visual-development work you see here — concept art, production design, and lens language that treat a real moment in history as an intimate, human one.
