Small Gods
A child builds a whole city so that one small hero can save the person they could not.
Small Gods is a stop-motion animation feature in production at 302 Story Works. Beside a family funeral, a child assembles a cardboard-and-cotton city and sends a small handmade hero to do the impossible thing the grown-ups cannot: bring someone back. The film moves between two rooms — one of loss, one of play — and finds that a child's imagination is not an escape from grief but a way of carrying it.
We are making it the slow way, by hand. Every building, cloud, and character is a physical object, lit and moved one frame at a time, because the story is about the tenderness of things that are made rather than generated. Handcraft is the meaning here, not just the method — the fingerprints are the point.
Small Gods anchors the studio's animation slate: original, emotionally serious stories told through stop-motion and other handmade techniques.
